This mathematical astronomer
was born in the year 85 AD and died in the year 165 AD. He spent his
life in Alexandria, Egypt developing ways to prove the Sun Traveled
around the Earth through trigonometry. Well respected scientists like
Newton are known for criticizing his work because of the inaccuracies
found in the maps he made. But, the tiny changes he made to the
equinox and solstice times developed by HIpparchus still hold up.
There is a crater on the moon named after him, Crater
Ptolemaeus.
