Gene Hall is currently the Dean of the College of
Education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and has been there
since 1999. Prior to his tenure at the University of Nevada Hall was
the Dean of the College of Education at the University of Northern
Colorado from 1988 to 1993. In 1993 he stepped down as dean and was a
professor in Educational Leadership until 1999. From 1986 to 1988 he
was a professor in Educational Leadership at the University of
Florida.
Halls research focus is on understanding the change process in
organizational settings. He was the principal developer of the
Concerns Based Adoption Model (CBAM) which addresses the an
individual approaches change. (Everett Rogers studied change in
groups). The CBAM addresses the stages of concern:
individuals go through when facing a new
innovation.
He works as a consultant and offers training related to
understanding, facilitating, and evaluating change processes from the
CBAM perspective. He has also been a contributor to national
accreditation of teacher education institutions and has served as
chair of the Standards Committee of the National Council for the
Accreditation of Teacher Education.(NCATE).
