Admission Criteria for all English Education Programs:
The Graduate School at the University of Florida sets minimum requirements for admission: a 3.0 GPA in upper-division undergraduate work and GRE scores that are acceptable to the program (English Education minimums are Verbal 500 & Quantitative 500). English Education faculty also consider the written statement of purpose; the academic potential evident in recommendations; and a student’s academic background (i.e., a B. A. or M. A. in English or a substantial background in literature, writing, and communication). Admission decisions are based on multiple sources of numerical and qualitative data and are framed by the goals of the program. In rare cases, faculty may offer a conditional admit to students who do not meet all of the above criteria.
