Program Requirements
Coursework
Up to 30 hours of recent graduate level coursework (grades of A and B only) from an approved institution may be transferred into a student's doctoral program if it supports the program of study and is approved by the committee.
Note: These are minimal standards and you will need to take more credits in order to fulfill the graduation requirements of STL, the College of Education, and the UF Graduate School.

Specialization Coursework (at least 12 hours)
Students develop expertise in an area selecting offerings from a field such as technology, literacy, multicultural education, human diversity, ESOL, early childhood education, special education, or a content area.
Research Methodology (at least 15 hours)
Students will take courses in qualitative and quantiative methodologies. A miminum of 12 credits must be from the College of Education Approved Research Courses list.
Dissertation Hours (at least 12 hours)
Other Professional Experiences
In addition to coursework, the committee works with the student to plan other experiences for the doctoral student. Examples include teaching and/or supervising students in one of our ProTeach programs, coaching teacher professional development, designing and conducting research studies, presenting at state and national professional meetings, writing for publication, and teaching distance courses.
