Faculty Development
To meet the diverse needs of the faculty in the College of Education
and the faculty from Liberal Arts and Sciences that participated
in the grant, multiple methods of professional development opportunities
were provided. Therefore, faculty development opportunities were divided
into two areas: general faculty
development and content-specific
faculty development. The general
faculty development worked to meet the initial concerns of faculty
in attempting to integrate educational technologies into their teaching
and learning environments. Faculty development efforts include workshops,
online support centers, and one-on-one consulting. The content-specific
faculty development opportunities allowed faculty to work extensively
with a Teaching and Technology Fellow and participate in the TTIP
mini-grant competition.
During the fourth year of the Teaching and Technology Initiative, faculty development strategies changed in order to maintain the sustainability of these efforts once the initiative ended. Dr. Gail Ring accepted a faculty position at Ball State University. Because the Dean's Office saw the great value the Office of Educational Technology brought to the College, the Dean's Office began to fully fund all aspects of the general faculty development in the College. In the content-specific faculty development, the Technology Fellows were withdrawn from faculty to allow them to stand upon the knowledge gained with integration technology into the curriculum over the past three years. We're pleased to say that all faculty continued with their technology integration efforts and continued to move forward.
