Program Requirements: Ed.S. Degree

Course Requirements

----
NOTE: In addition to course requirements an Ed.S. degree at the University of Florida requires "both an oral and written examination" and "a research component relevant to the professional role for which the student is preparing" (University of Florida Graduate Catalog).

Participants will be required to come to the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, FL for two weekends during their final course of the program (Supervised Research, EDG6910) to complete these requirements. This course will always be offered in the summer.

Prior to the first weekend, students will have completed their written examination. During the first weekend in Gainesville students will defend their written examination orally. At this time they will also work with faculty and colleagues enrolled in the Ed.S. program to the determine the content and structure of their research component. During the second weekend in Gainesville students will present their research component to faculty and colleagues in the Ed.S. program and celebrate their newly earned degree.

The first weekend visit will occur between late May and early June. The second weekend visit will occur in late July or early August. We anticipate the first cohort of Ed.S. recipients will be ready to take their final course of the program (Supervised Research, EDG6910) during Summer 2008. However, if students are ready during Summer 2007, we will offer it then as well.
