
Ed.D. Course Sequencing
The Ed.D. in Educational Technology is a cohort-based program. There are five 8-week sessions per year: (1) Fall, (2) Spring 1, (3) Spring 2, (4) Summer 1 and (5) Summer 2. The information below provide a tentative outline of the program. Students with a degree in Education wishing to complete the degree in 3 years will take no more than 6 credits per session.

Prerequisite Year
Students without a graduate or undergraduate degree in Education will take a series of prerequisite courses and join a cohort the following year.

EME 5054: Foundations of Educational Technology (online)
EDG 6931: Orientation to Doctoral Studies (online)
EME 6XXX: Deeper Psychology of Technology (online)
EME 6XXX: Instructional Design (online)
EME 7938: Seminar in Educational Technology, Part 1 (online and week-long campus-based experience in Gainesville)
One cognate course
Complete Year One Milestones:
- Complete all cohort-based courses
- Complete at least 30 credits (Including credits earned during the prerequisite year or transfer credits)
- Complete at least one cognate course
- Complete a formal written plan for advancement to candidacy (i.e. how you will complete your qualifying exams)
- Complete two of four qualifying exam tasks
- Attend week-long campus experience during the week specified in the admission agreement for your cohort
- Participate in online communication throughout the year

EME 7938: Seminar in Educational Technology, Part 1 (online and campus-based experience in Gainesville with your Advisor and Inquiry Team)
Complete Year Two Milestones:
- Complete all cohort-based courses
- Complete at least 60 credits (Including credits earned during the prerequisite year or transfer credits)
- Complete at least one cognate area (i.e. 9 credits in a specified area)
- Advance to candidacy by completing and presenting Qualifying Exam experiences in a public forum during campus-based experience negotiated with your advisor
- Defend dissertation proposal during campus-based experience during campus-based experience negotiated with your advisor
- Participate in online communication throughout the year

Year Three
EME 6945: Practicum in Educational Media (9 hours) -(online and campus-based experience in Gainesville with your Advisor and Inquiry Team)

EDF 7980 Dissertation hours (minimum of 6 hours) -(requires campus-based presentation and defense)

- Apply for graduation with Graduate School
- Defend dissertation during campus-based experience during campus-based experience negotiated with your Advisor and Inquiry Team
