Frances M. Vandiver joined the University of Florida in 1998 as Director of the P. K. Yonge Developmental Research School and Lecturer in the College of Education. She has 26 years of professional experience including 16 years in administration. She has taught at the junior high, middle school, and high school levels. Dr. Vandiver has served as the Dean for Student Activities at Meredith College, Raleigh NC, and as both a middle and high school principal. An active leader in the Coaltion of Essential Schools, a school reform organization, she has been a member of the Executive Board since 1995 and is serving as the current Board President.

Her presentations at numerous regional and national meetings during recent years have focused on school change, teacher leadership and the principalship. Dr. Vandiver received the Distinguished Educator award from the University of Florida in 1995. She was a contributor to the recent publication,on Being a Principal. Dr. Vandiver has an A. A. degree in science from St. Petersburg Junior College, a B. S. degree, Cum Laude, in physical education from the University of Florida, a M. S. degree in physical education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadershp from the University of Miami.
