Dr. Oliver

Dr. Bernard Oliver is currently serving as Director of the University of Florida Alliance and Professor of Educational Administration and Policy.  Prior to joining UF in 2005, Dr. Oliver served as Assistant Superintendent for High School Education in the Virginia Beach City Public Schools.  In addition, Dr. Oliver has over 25 years of service in higher education as Dean of Education, Department Chair and Program Director.  His honors include serving as a Fulbright Scholar and postdoctoral leadership study at Harvard University, the Bush Foundation, the University of Texas at Austin, the Center for Creative Leadership, Stanford University, and the Eli Broad Urban Superintendents Academy.

Although currently not teaching, Dr. Oliver has previously taught undergraduate: Methods of Teaching, classroom management & discipline, diversity/multicultural education, supervision of student teachers/interns, and Foundations of Education.

Cultural Diversity; Introduction to Research Methods, Action Research, Curriculum Design, Curriculum Theory, Leadership in Higher Education, Supervision, Organizational Change and Leadership, Research on Teaching

Dr. Oliver has published and presented over 70+ scholarly works focusing on cultural diversity, leadership, curriculum development, teacher education, and school-university partnerships. His current scholarly interests are in the social contexts of teaching and learning, high school reform, and leadership.
