The COE’s primary role in the Science for Life program is to provide ongoing quantitative and qualitative assessment of all of the key program elements.

Summary of HHMI Assessment Initiatives
Drs. Linda Behar-Horenstein and Luis Ponjuan, two COE faculty members in Educational Administration and Policy, will evaluate the effectiveness of each HHMI program component and disseminate their findings at national and international conferences and in professional journals and digital libraries such as BiosciEdNet.

Regular assessment and evaluation of all key program elements will be used to determine the evolution of program activities. Behar-Horenstein is responsible for conducting all qualitative research regarding HHMI program elements, while Ponjuan is charged with completing the quantitative research needed to provide a proper assessment of the program’s effectiveness.
