What are Prospective Teacher Responsibilities for Social Studies for Diverse Learners?
You have complete control over the design of this activity. It can be as large or small as you want it to be. You can engage your students in service learning or you can engage in service learning yourself. You will need to:1) read the articles found in the links below,
2) provide a description of the service learning you engaged in,
3) provide a rationale statement that convincingly argues why the project is service learning and how service learning contributes to elementary social studies.
Note: I know of two service learning projects this semester that we need volunteers for and they are: 1) the Alachua Community Haunted House and 2) the development of an on-line publishing site for children in DDL classroom's writing. If you are interested in either of these options, talk to Diane.
