Inquiry Project Description:
Read Harvey, pp. 194-196.
- Select an appropriate social studies theme.
- Prepare Research Time Line for Inquiry Project (Social Studies theme).
- Plan & organize the inquiry project.
- Gather a variety of resources that represent depth and breadth of subject matter selected.
- Plan mini-lessons.
- Guide a small group of students through the entire process (reading & researching; note taking; writing drafts; revising; prepare for exhibition).
- Assess student learning through the collection of a variety of data sources.
- Participate in final exhibition.
Note: The three steps highlighted in red will be evaluated for your social studies grade.
- Appropriate social studies topic for grade level selected.
- Significant exploration and professional familiarity with content the children are inquiring into.
- Demonstrates know of what children learned or did not learn as a result of engaging in inquiry.
