What are Prospective Teacher Responsibilities for Social Studies for Diverse Learners?
1) identifying the characteristics of an exemplary social studies curriculum for PK Yonge students.
2) exploring the content to be taught.
3) identifying the key generalizations and concepts that will be taught in this unit.
4) identifying the key knowledge, skills, and abilities to be attained by PK students in an exemplary social studies curriculum.
5) constructing a set of 15 lessons that lead to the acquisition of these knowledge (generalizations), skills, and abilities.
6)developing appropriate assessment tools.
7) infusing accommodations into the lessons.
8) identifying the resources that support these activities and students' learning.
9) evaluating the developed curriculum using the characteristics identified as exemplary.
10) evaluate each team member's participation.
This curriculum project should integrate the concepts identified in the following resources: NCSS, Levstik & Barton, Lindquist, Wolk, SSS, PK Faculty's Shared Beliefs about Teaching, and Accommodations literature.
