The founding of a Normal Department for male teacher education in Gainesville in 1905 set the stage for a long and rich history for the College of Education at the University of Florida. Early educators at the university were visionaries in the field who became the standard-bearers for a tradition of innovative and creative thinking in the College that continues today.
