    LEADER PROFILE: OVERVIEW

         Higher education is rapidly becoming a global marketplace. Institutions that are successful in this fast-changing environment understand the importance of identifying and selecting people who will become tomorrow’s leaders. 

         The Community College Leadership Consortium created a resource for current and aspiring higher education administrators. The Leader Profile matches individuals with the essential attributes envisioned for the work profile of the 21st Century community college president. 

         This resource was developed with products called the Occupational Personality Questionnaire (OPQ) and the Work Profiling System from SHL, Inc. SHL has helped more than 5,000 clients worldwide integrate their people with the company’s strategic goals using scientific and professional assessment and selection tools. They provide state-of-the-art assessment and selection tools in 42 countries and 22 languages, helping to meet the global challenges of the 21st century.

         Currently the Profile is being used in two ways:

    1. UF Higher Administration students receive individual assessment, advising and customized professional developmental plans to complement existing services offered by the IHE and its faculty. 
    2. A resource for higher educational institutions in candidate selection for administrative positions and/or professional development plans for existing personnel.

    How does the Leader Profile work?

         The Profile measures characteristics that indicate a candidate’s suitability for managerial or professional positions. The reports helps you identify: 

    • Relevant Work Behaviors 
    • Team Types 
    • Selling Styles 
    • Management Performance 
    • Leadership Styles 

         Team Types provide preferred team styles, creating cohesive teams by highlighting particular aspects of the Profile that contribute to an individual’s specific team type.

         Management Styles assess leadership performance, enabling structured assessment of management performance and providing a clear profile of strengths and development needs.
