R. Craig Wood is one of the nation's foremost authorities on public education finance and law. His has conducted numerous studies for state legislatures regarding the financing of public elementary and secondary education. Craig Wood has designed the education finance distribution formulas for state legislatures and conducted numerous statewide education finance studies regarding equity and adequacy of the financing of elementary and secondary education for state legislatures. Additionally, he has served as the lead expert witness for state legislatures in several state constitutional challenges to the manner in which public funds are distributed to school districts.

Craig Wood is currently the Executive Director of the American Education Finance Association. He has served on the Board of Directors and is a past President of the American Education Finance Association. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Education Law Association. He is currently a University of Florida Research Foundation Professor. Before his appointment at the University of Florida he served on the faculty of Purdue University and served as the assistant superintendent for finance for school districts in Wisconsin and Connecticut. He holds his doctorate from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Dr. Wood's research and examination regarding the methods of distributing school finance aid and education law issues has appeared in numerous scholarly journals and books. His publication record includes more than 250 book chapters, monographs, and scholarly journal articles including the American Education Finance Association's Annual Yearbooks and the Journal of Education Finance. Additionally, he has published in numerous law reviews and conducted workshops for the National Association of Attorneys General and other national organizations.

His books include Education Finance Law published in 2007 by the Education Law Association; Fiscal Leadership for Schools, Principles of School Business Management, and Money and Schools. His latest text, Financing Public Education is forthcoming. He serves on the editorial boards of the Education Law Reporter, Journal of Education Finance, Educational Considerations as well as the University of Florida Journal of Law and Public Policy.
