RGB: stands
for Red, Green and Blue. Monitors create their
images on the screen by emitting red, green and
blue light.

Indexed
Color: a
limited selections of colors, called a palette, is
made up of 256 colors. You can choose a color
palette if you do not need all 256 colors. Limiting
colors makes the file size smaller.

Bit Depth:
a
bit bit is the smallest amount of information that
a computer understands. The computer is divided
into little pixels that can turn on or off. 1-bit
monitors can only understand one bit of information
at a time, either black or white. Now most monitors
can understand 8-bits which can display 256 colors.
There are now 16-bit and 24-bit
computers.

Resolution:
the
number of pixels and the number of colors you
monitor displays. Changing to a higher pixel count
is called setting your monitor at a higher
resolution because there are more pixels per
inch.

Scanned
images: always
save scanned images in the TIFF file format.
Later you will change it into a GIF or JPEG. You
should scan images with a resolution of 72ppi to
150ppi if you are modifying the
image.

Image Size:
the
dimensions of an image that are most commonly
measured in inches, pixels, picas or
centimeters.
