Teacher Resources in the Technology Support Center
You will find a wealth of useful information in this site. There are lesson plans, resources to help you find a job, information about every content area, technology assistance, and much, much more. This site was created by students in the College of Education at the University of Florida. Be sure to spend some time here.

AskERIC
Key areas in this site include lesson plans, collections, a searchable database, virtual library, and a toolbox. Go to the virtual library to find lesson plans that are organized by subject area. Check out the toolbox as well. Here you can get access to sites that will provide you with content background information for your units. You can also search the ERIC system for sources of information. This is a great site!!

ERIC Digests
This is a great resource to provide information related to classroom problems you encounter. This site gives you online access to ERIC documents. You can pull up recent documents or you can do a search by topic. Check this one out!

The Mining Company for K-6 educators
This site links to lesson plans in a wide variety of subject areas. It also provides help with classroom management!! There are bulletin boards for help in a variety of areas. There also are job listings for teachers. Literally a gold mine of information.

Collaborative Lesson Archive
This site has an archive of lessons and units organized by grade level and subject area. You can also submit lessons and units. This is a great site for educators to share lesson and unit ideas. The grade and subject area organization makes the site very easy to use. You can also use "search" to find lessons related to a particular topic.

Teachers Helping Teachers
This site has lesson plans organized by subject area. Many are appropriate for elementary aged children. Be sure to look at the classroom managment section. (There are some good ideas for getting started.) Note that this site is updated weekly once the academic year begins. Be sure to check out the resources page in this site. There are links to many great sites!

Lesson Plan Page
You'll find many plans for lessons on a variety of topics. Choose a subject area and then you will be able to choose according to grade level and specific topics. This site has lots of great activities and even some unit plans (But beware--the ones I checked were not organized around concepts and generalizations)

Awesome Library for Teachers
This site has lesson plans organized by topic area. Within each area you will find a wealth of lesson plans. In this site you'll also find ideas for working with families, resources to help you develop student projects and information about working with special education students. I found the lesson plans to be much more useful than the resources section of this site.

Educational Projects
This site was created by teachers in the Montgomery County School System (Maryland). The projects are designed for 4th and 5th graders. Many are intera tive telecommunications projects.

Engaging Science--Lesson Plan Exchange
This is an on-line lesson plan exchange with K-7 essons in earth and space science, physical science, and life science. . For some topics and grade levels there are lots of lesson plans. Unfortunately, for some topics and grade levels there are none, but if you are doing a science unit, it is worth your time to check out this site.

Columbia Education Center
Here you'll find many teacher created lesson plans organized by grade level and subject. There are also some interesting links to other sites you may find useful.

Daily Life in Ancient Civilizations
If you are teaching 4th grade or higher and plan a unit on Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, India, or China, check out this site for lesson plans, mini-units, review activities, etc. Designed for 6th graders, these lessons can be adapted to other grade levels.

The Staff Room for Ontario Teachers
This site has dozens of sample rubrics in every imaginable subject area. You are sure to find help creating a rubric that will fit your unit here.

The Rubric Bank
Here you will find a bank of sample rubrics in math, science, reading, writing, social studies, and fine arts. This is a great resource for students and teachers learning to write rubrics.

Great sites for information for your content
outlines (AND homework help for kids!!)

P.J. Pinchbeck's Homework Helper
This site has resources for helping children to do homework. Recommend this site to your students. Sarah and I have found it invaluable in finding information for projects. You will find great resources for appropriate content information for your units. There also is a lesson plan resource center for teachers.

Pitsco's Ask an Expert
This is another site designed to provide homework assistance for children. It is organized into content categories and will be useful as you develop the content for your outline. When you go to the list of expert categories, each expert has a homepage that will help you acquire information and locate additional resources. Then if you have "thorny questions" you can e-mail an expert to get your questions answered.

Research Paper.com
This site also is organized by categories. Check out the idea directory and use your topic area to help you find information you might need. This site also has tips on writing papers that you might find useful in working with upper grade children.

Internet Public Library
As the name implies this is a library of internet resources. It has librarian, youth and teen sections. Try the youth and teen sections to find information useful for your content outline. You can also find sites that you can use with your class if you have internet access in your classroom. I spent most of my time on the youth page. You'll find lots of ideas in a variety of subject areas for your children. This will help with your content outline and a whole lot more!

NEED HELP WORKING WITH A CHILD WITH A DISABILITY?

LDonline
In this site you will find basic information about learning disabilities and working with learning disabled children. Check out the research on any area of disability of concern to you. Lots of great information in this site on how to help children who are struggling to learn to read. On the homepage you'll find a couple of current articles with up to date information. In the bulletin boards, you'll find discussion about instructional issues related to children with learning disabilities and ADHD. There's lots of useful information in this site!

Attention Deficit Disorder information
This is a very informative site. It explains ADD. It explains medication and its impact. It presents the "secrets" of successful classrooms and has suggestions for classroom and individual modifications. If there is an ADD child in your classroom, check out this site. Look in particular at the section on ADD in the classroom. That article is a gem!
