User Notes
Use the User Notes
menu (figure above) to
copy, print, and save text from abstracts or text accompanying audio,
filmstrip, and video resources, or cards. A User Notes
window allows you to enter selected text and use basic editing
options, including cut, copy, and paste. You also can type, edit,
print, and save your own notes in this window. User Notes menu commands include:
- New Notes: Creates a window for entering and
editing notes.
- Open Notes: Opens a window containing text that
was saved previously in a file. A User Notes window also can be
opened from the View menu. Only one User Notes window can be
opened at a time. If a User Notes window is already open and its
contents have not been saved, you will be asked if you wish to
save the notes before a new window is opened.
- Save Notes: Saves notes as a file on disk. If
notes were saved previously with the same name, the old version
will be replaced. If notes were not saved previously, this command
will work the same as the Save Notes As command (see below). Notes files are saved to
disk as basic text files that then can be opened and edited with
most word processing programs. There is a 10 k limit to the size
of a notes file.
- Save Notes
As: Saves notes in a
file using the name and destination that you select.
- Revert
Notes: Changes notes
back to the last version saved to disk.
- Print Notes: Prints notes using the current page
setup.
- View Notes: If a User Notes window is open, this
command brings the window to the front so you can view, edit,
save, or print its contents.
