You can use the Search menu commands mainly to save search criteria information:

If you need to quit a session but wish to return to the same resources and search criteria, you can use the Save Settings command to save this information to your hard drive or a floppy. When you want to retrieve this information, go to the Search menu and use the Load Settings command. You also can save search criteria information temporarily during a session should you decide, for example, to do a different search but wish to come back to an earlier one. Use the Save Settings Temp command to do this.

You can use the Restore Settings Temp commands to return to temporarily saved search criteria settings during a session. The highest (undimmed) number will be the most recent settings you saved. The Search menu also can be used to change the font size in the Search Engine window (see also File menu) and to open (view) the Search Engine window if it was closed.
