In the Abstract & Links Info window, click a title in the Links list to highlight it and then click the Open button to the left of the list to open the Link Window (see figure below) that shows the actual resource. For book resources, the Link Window setup looks similar to the Resource Window.
The Link Window differs from the Resource Window
in that it includes the resource title that has the link
and it has a Shared Resources
button (
). As with the Resource
Window, you can see the total number of pages or images
for this resource and the page or image currently in the window. You
can change pages using the next and previous image buttons or by
typing a number in the box for the page currently being viewed.
The above example shows the first frame in a filmstrip resource. The Link and Resource Window for filmstrips, video clips, and audio recordings have the same basic setup: the filmstrip image or video clip appear in the box on the left side of the window; a commentary box on the right provides textual information to accompany the images; and audio recordings have commentary, but the image box remains blank. You can play the audio and video clips with QuickTime software which must be installed in your system. (If you need to install QuickTime see your computer instruction manual on installing system software.) The audio and video clips use standard QuickTime controls, which appear beneath the image box in the Link and Resource windows:

The volume control adjusts the sound volume when you hold down the mouse button with the cursor on the speaker icon then use the displayed slider while a clip is playing. Click the play button to start and stop a recording. You can click the play button while a clip is playing to pause the clip. You can use the slider, by dragging the indicator, to quickly navigate through a clip's contents. You can click within the slider to make the indicator jump to the location of your click. You can use the step buttons, holding the mouse button down while the cursor is on a button, to move through the clip frame by frame, either forward or backward.
Note: The quality of the audio or video playback depends on your computer system's speed (processor speed, CD-ROM drive speed, and so on) and its monitor setting. These parameters vary from system to system. For optimal picture quality, adjust the Monitors setting (in Control Panels) to thousands or millions of colors.
